This picture is a replica of Jerusalum when Jesus was alive. There is a small red light flashing on and off and that is where he was hung on the cross and crucified.
Dalton and I were standing there with a sister missionary and Dalton started talking to her about Jesus being crucified. This is how it went. Jesus died and that red dot is where Jesus got "hooked up"! The sister missionary broke down laughing- she said she has never heard it put that way before!

Boys with Boobs!! And mini basketball butts!!

We were up at Powder Mountain for a week with the kids. Weston, Dalton and I were sitting on the couches watching cartoons, when Colton walks in and says "mom, I have boobies"! We all started laughing, so I grabbed my camera and took a picture of him. Well, my other two were feeling left out and wanted to know what "boobs" look like on them, so they put the two miniature basketballs up their pajama tops and these are the pictures. Then someone, maybe it was me, decided to get bubble butt pictures too!

Clarke Planetarium

Me and the boys decided to ride the front runner down to SLC and go to the Clarke Planetarium. It was BORING. Probably the most boring place I have ever taken the kids too, or myself for that matter. I was NOT impressed. We spent most of our time in the toy shop looking for something that wasn't overpriced and stupid. I asked the kids later what they thought and they said it was dumb, and that their favorite thing there was being in the toystore. Thank goodness it doesn't cost anything to get in or else I would have bitched all the way home! Needless to say we will never be going back anytime soon... After we spent a total of about 1 hour there, most of it in the toyshop, mind you, we decided to ride the trax to temple square. The kids have never been there and it has been several years since I had been there. We met up with two wonderfully sweet sister missionaries that took us on our "guided" tour of the temple grounds and visitor center. I will post pictures in my next post.

Powder Mountain

Some vid's and pic's of the kids enjoying the warm indoor swimming pool at Powder Mountain. It was COLD outside and still ALOT of snow was on the ground, so the kids took advantage of swimming every day we were there. I was really proud of Weston, as he pretty much has taught himself how to swim by himself. The last day we were there, I reluctantly let him go swimming without his life jacket and he really did a fantastic job! I dont really have many vid's of Colton, because Colton doesn't like the water and wont jump in like Dalton and Weston do. Colton likes to just sit in the hot tub and watch.

Feeding Frenzy at the Farm

This past weekend we went to Idaho to visit family and celebrate my mom's birthday. One of my dad's cows had twin calves on Monday. Well, the mother took to one of the babies, but not this one. So my dad has been feeding the calf with milk replacement to get the baby to live. On Saturday when we got there, he let all the grandkids help feed the calf. Here are the pictures. Colton got the most picture shots because he was the only one that didn't run off after their turn to play something else. I was surprised that Dalton even got into the pen because Dalton does NOT like animals, except our dog Tiger.

Marc's results

Some may know this already but Marc was diagnosed with diabetes (type 2) on March 17th. The doctor said he was a walking time bomb. Since last Wednesday, he is able to control his blood sugars and has them down to right around 100. Normal blood sugars should be around 60-150. When his blood was tested his blood sugars were above 400. Ketone's are sugars in the urine. His keytone levels were around a 7. They put him on a saline drip and gave him a dose of insulin. 4-1/2 hours later we were able to leave the doctors office. He returned again on Thursday to recheck his blood sugars and to meet with his PCP and they were still just a little over 300 and his ketone levels down to about 4-1/2. He was on another saline drip and another dose of insulin. Friday he went in again to be tested. His blood sugars were under 200 and his keytone level was aroun 2. Good news!!
He was given a glucose meter and some supplies and test' every morning before he eats and then 2 hours after his first meal. Through out the weekend, every day the numbers crept down. Tuesday we met with the PCP and his blood sugars were down to 90 and only a trace of keytone's in his urine! FANTASTIC news!
He was prescribed some insulin and some more supplies and has been able to keep his levels down between normal levels. He was cleared to go back to work. Now they will be working on his cholesterol, which was terribly high.
We meet with a nutritionist on Tuesday. This will help ALOT as to know what he can/cannot have, maybe can have, can have in moderation, etc...
We were supposed to go to Las Vegas the weekend of the 19th-22nd, but the doctor told us it would be better to stay around here. So we did. The kids were so bummed. They had been saving their money and was looking forward to going swimming and seeing the "kids version" of Las Vegas. Oh well. Better to be safe than sorry.

Twins preschool letter "R"

This week in Rodeo Kid Care the kids are learning about the letter R and the number 18. The corresponding theme is rodeos and cowboys and the kids learned about the old west cowboy and their lonely lives out on the plains herding ranchers cows.

We learned about the cowboys attire including their boots, buckles and hats and then did an old west sit down imaginary cattle drive as we escaped from robbers, found water for our thirsty horses and slept in a cave.

I hope you will continue this theme at home as your kids learn about the old west and the rodeo that continues to showcase the cowboys many talents!

I recently changed my screen saver to go through my thousands of pic's and do a slide show. My boys have really gotten into this and whenever the screen saver comes on, they all gather around my computer to laugh hysterically at some of their baby pictures. I have noticed that Weston is pretty much naked or in his undies in all the pictures we have of him when he was younger. I am posting a few of my favorite pictures of my kids as babies (i will not post the naked ones!)

Utah Jazz Game

So Marc got 2 tickets from a guy he works with for a Jazz game this past Wednesday night. So, Weston and I decided we would have a mother/son "date night". It started off by us taking the front runner from Ogden to Salt Lake. The front runner is a commuter train that runs from Salt Lake to Ogden several time a day. We had never been on it before and decided to go this way rather than drive down to Salt Lake and deal with traffic and parking. We then took the "TRAX" train (kinda like an above ground subway for Salt Lake) and went to the Gateway Plaza and had dinner at Applebee's. Then we walked over to the Energy SOlutions building to watch the Jazz play the Memphis Grizzlies.

The game had only been going for about 6-7 minutes when Weston decided he was bored and wanted to go home. I made him stay til the 4th quarter when there was about 5 minutes left and the Jazz was up by 25 points. During a time out, the Jazz bear wanted to find out which section was the loudest, well, our section was not and it was a section across the floor from us. Well, they got free popcorn. So, all of a sudden popcorn was falling from the top of the stadium where they were probably getting rid of all the popcorn made, but not eaten that night, all over that section.
Weston threw a major tantrum because he insisted that our section WAS the loudest and that he thought he deserved the free popcorn. Needless to say, everyone around saw the fit he threw so I packed up and we left.
So this is how the night pretty much went:
$12.00 front runner/trax tickets. $30.00 meal at Applebee's. $35.00 Jazz tickets in the nose bleed section. $10.00 for cotton candy and kettle corn at the game.

New Years Eve day sledding fun

It has become a tradition for our family on New Year's Eve day to head to Brigham City to Watkins Park and go sledding. Here are some pictures that I took of the kids sledding. I would have taken alot more, but the batteries ran out in my camera.
Dalton was going down the hill on his sled and came to a snow pile or a ramp as the kids called it, and his sled stopped but he kept going! It was the funniest sight to see him soaring in the air with just snow to land on.

Weston got some Spiderman Sheet's for his bed. Any of you that don't know Weston know's that he LOVES spiderman. He kept telling me that he wanted Santa to bring him some "magic dust" so that he could turn into spiderman!

Santa brought the kids an X-Box for Christmas this year! They have spent every day since playing on it. Because Santa's elves told me they were getting an X-Box, I decided to go to ebay and buy some video games. They were pretty cheap there so I was able to buy quite a few for them. Our favorite so far has been SpongeBob Squarepants Lights, Camera, Action!
We had a great Christmas with the kids this year. Thanks to all the Grandparents for all you gave them and for their aunt and uncle who had our name this year for the movie and popcorn and food storage. Thanks to everyone who has made this year a wonderful year for the Jackson family. We love all of you and hope to have a great year in 2010!

December 21st...The Letter F

Today in preschool we learned about the letter F. What does the letter F stand for? Few Farr West Firefighters Forget the Fun of bringing a Firetruck to a Friendly Family in home daycares' Freezing preschool lesson!!

It was so awesome of the Farr West Fire Department to spend their time to drive out here and show off the fire truck to the kids! It was cold outside so the kids dressed warm in their coats and listened to the firefighters talk about the truck and what all the tools and trinkets do to help them do their jobs!

The kids made special fire truck puzzle crafts which turned out completely adorable. We pretended to be fire fighters driving to put out a fire, and the kids learned important lessons about dangerous objects in the home to avoid, how to treat burns, and the importance of stop-drop-and roll.

It's important for all of you parents to use this opportunity to come up with a fire escape plan with your kids and talk about fire safety.

FYI: We will be having our Christmas Party this Wednesday from 11-noon!

So this past weekend we went to Idaho to celebrate Christmas with the Sorensen's. Since my mom had her Christmas tree up, I told the kids that we would put our's up as soon as we got back from Idaho. While up in Idaho Santa Clause visited all the grandkids (except Syvanah and Taylor, who live in sunny Arizona!). It has become a tradition that all the kids decorate cookies. They love it!

Then they get bored and the adults finish up. I think there was more frosting eaten and on the table then was on the cookies! We have an early dinner/late lunch which this year was taco soup. It was yummie! Then we clean up. The mail came and the kids got a letter from Santa Claus letting them know that he would be up that way that night. This made the kids so excited for the events to follow. While waiting for Santa Claus the kids played musical chairs and duck duck goose. Soon the newness of that wore off and Aunt Tancy pulled out a game that got the kids entertained until about 6pm, when Santa was coming. Around that time all the adults gathered in the living room with the kids and we sang Christmas songs until we heard the bells of Santa Claus and his reindeer. The kids were uncontrollable at that time. Santa came in the front door (because there is no fireplace chimney for him to come down) and had a seat and asked all the kids one by one to come and sit on his lap. He had a bag full of toys that he passed out to each child.

After Santa left and all the kids had all their stuff out on the floor and played with a few of it, it was time to clean up and get kids settled down for the night.

They all pulled out their pillow's and blankets and a movie was started in the living room. The adults all went into the kitchen and there we played a game called "apples to apples". It was my first time playing the game and it was kinda fun. We then played another game "I can't remember the name of that one" but that one was alot funner (I thought). It was approaching 12am and you could tell that we were all tired with all the activities and such that happened earlier in the day. We all retired to bed. And of course the kids were up earlier than the adults on Sunday morning! So some of us got up to handle kids, feed them, clean them up, clean up their mess, and get them dressed. Some went to church, but none of the kids wanted to go so a few parents stayed at home to tend to the kids. The kids played games and parents tried to catch a few extra wink's in between fighting kids and loud kids! We had turkey noodle soup for lunch and then decided that we had better start heading out, as there was a storm coming through and we had to drive all the back to Utah. We gathered our belongings and hit the road home. We had pretty good weather until we hit Sublet. Not long after that we had slick, snowy roads. By the time we got to Tremonton everything had cleared up. We pulled into our driveway, which was covered in about 3 feet of fresh snow.
It was a really fast, short weekend, but we loved every minute of it!

Mom this is how you play super smash. Rule #1 Always listen to Weston. Rule #2- You pick your character to play the game any one that you want, such as Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Sump, Pickachu, Fox, Kriby, and Yoshi. Rule #3 You press A to punch and B to kick and R to pause/unpause. Rule #4 you got to fight the bestest that you can. Rule #5 You have to do good at the game or you will lose. Rule #6 When you lose do not cry about it just do it again. Rule #7 When you win do not say "ha ha" to your brothers, or your mom will put you in time out! Rule #8 When you have trouble ask your brother. Rule #9 Is the most important rule of all- HAVE FUN! and hve lots of fun.

Weston was at school when I posted the one about the twins and their game. When he got home he saw me looking at it and so we read it together and he decided since the twins had their own post about their video game, well why shouldn't he? He had me take his picture and told me what game he was going to describe. On rule #7, I asked him what would happen if he says "ha ha" to his brothers and his response was as listed above! My boys are VERY competitive when it comes to a couple video games and they get to the point to where someone always ends up crying or they start fighting with each other. That is when mom steps in and takes care of business!

So, I was in my office working and Colton and Dalton come running in and this is what I heard. Dalton: Mom, me and Colton are going to teach you how to play Gauntlet (a video game). Colton: The rules are this mom. Rule #1- Always listen to us. Rule #2- Always hurt the people when you see one. Rule #3- Theirs big persons that are so big that are bosses over the little ones. Rule #4- Thunderhammer. Rule #5- Pick people that are your warriors that will kill the bad guys. Rule #6- Always follow me (Colton). Rule #7- When you see a bad guy just hurt him. Rule #8- On the last level their is a dragon. Rule #9- There is keys there and food there and and and and new weopons. And the thunderhammer is blue and black and makes alot of people disappear. Rule #10- The bad guys have a big hole they live in and we need to shoot a hole in it so it wont open up with a lot of bad guys. Rule #12- There is a treasure chestes and doors and walls and you have to step on red stuff so the walls go down. Dalton was able to get a word in finally between breaths with Colton and said "and there is red things that make the walls go down and up down and up" and a robot that makes us get killed. Colton- That's all. ANd there is lots of levels on there and we never make it to the fourth level. Man that was a lot of talking. Oh, I forgot, on the first level there is a thunderhammer and on the second there is something that makes you grow and on number three there is bad bad lizards. And that's all.
Now at this point Colton just keeps on jabbering away and away and away and away. Anyone that know's Colton knows that once you get him talking, he wont stop until you actually tell him to stop talking!!! I love my boys

Since we are learning about the letter Gg (Gardening) the kids were able to make coffee filter flowers for their moms! Way cute boys! They all were able to write the letter G, but may need help remembering what G sounds like...

It's always nice to hear a kid shout out..."I love preschool!" during class. It makes all of our hard work worth while!

We will continue to hold preschool classes for the remainder of December, and will be holding our annual Christmas party on Wednesday the 23rd! I will send reminders out before the holiday...

Dear President Obama,

My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year.
People meeting me for the first time don't believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.

I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos'n Mate. Now I live in a "rest home"
located on the western end of Pearl Harbor, allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.

One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.

So here goes.
I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.

I can't figure out what country you are the president of. You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies
like:
" We're no longer a Christian nation"
" America is arrogant" - (Your wife even announced to the world,"America is mean- spirited. " Please tell her to try preaching
that nonsense to 23 generations of our war dead buried all over the globe who died for no other reason than to free a
whole lot of strangers from tyranny and hopelessness.)
I'd say shame on the both of you, but I don't think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this
country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.
After 9/11 you said," America hasn't lived up to her ideals."
Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British?
Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn't mean the
ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting
any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.

I don't think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people
understood when they helped to get you elected.

Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man. Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don't, I'll do what I can
to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue. You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the
hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.

And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow
soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don't want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in
Massachusetts, who was putting up a fight? You don't mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don't want us to offend Muslim
fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.

One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you're the Commander-in-Chief
now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to
him. But if you're not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you're thinking of.

You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president. You're not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That's not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now.
And I sure as hell don't want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle.

Last week we learned about the letter T and the number 10. Since writing the letter T seemed to come so natural for all the kids, we decided to spend Wednesday having time to set up train tracks and let the boys play! They loved it, and soon class was over.

Monday they built trucks out of soap boxes and aluminum foil, and on Wednesday they made the same kind of trucks out of little cakes, miniature oreo cookies and frosting. The cake trucks lasted as long as it took to ice on the wheels and then they gobbled them up!

We love teaching preschool! It breaks up our day and the kids are absorbing so much!

Taco Casserole

So, my mom gave me this recipe and I tried it a couple of weeks ago with my family and they LOVED it. Colton's response after a couple of bites and me asking everyone how they liked it was "this is damn good"!! I added the beans to my mixture. You can also add peppers and onions if desired.

2 pound ground beef (drained)
1 bottle stewed tomatoe's blended
1 bottle pinto beans (I can my own beans)
taco seasoning (however much you want it to taste like taco's)
put all in pot and simmer for about an hour.
Put some of the meat mixture on the bottom of your baking pan so the tortilla's dont stick. Take a tortilla shell and put a litte bit of meat mixture in it with some shredded cheese and roll up. Place in baking pan and repeat until your pan is full.
Pour the rest of the meat mixture over the rolled up tortilla shells and sprinkle with some more shredded cheese and bake in oven for about 15-20 minutes.

He would run and put his hands out to his side like an airplane and do a belly flop. I kept asking him if that hurt and he said no, and would do it all over again!
I was laughing so hard every time he did it cuz it was so funny!

I couldn't get Colton to jump in the water. He would go over to the stairs and walk in every time. I finally "bribed" him and told him I would give him money if he would jump in. I guess that worked because the next thing I knew he was jumping in all the time after that.

All the kids wanted to do was go swimming! They spent more time swimming than doing anything else. It was a short weekend, but fun! Here are some pic's of my three waterbugs!

Bear Lake Halloween

This year we got a condo in Bear Lake and took the kids up there trick or treating.
The KOA there put on a trunk or treat right there at the KOA campground. We took the kids to it. All the campers were there along with most of Bear Lake. It was fun. They had all sorts of activities for the kids including train rides, air bounce, decorating cookies, etc. We didn't make it in time for the activities but will be better prepared next year! Weston Passed and got his white belt in MP

So we decided that Weston needed some type of "outlet" and we though some type of Martial Arts would work. We found this place called MP USA. It's a martial art form from Indonesia call Merpati Putih. He went for his first three days and had one on one insructions from a teacher. On the third day they make them take a test on all the stuff they have earned. If they pass it off, they receive their white belts. Weston passed his and was able to get his white belt. The instructor cut's the white belt with a sword. Weston complained the first day about not really wanting to do it, that he wanted to do basketball instead, but today he came up to me and said, I don't want to do basketball, I want to stay with this! Little does he know he is doing both!! We will start him up with the Jr. Jazz and it runs from 11/01/09-12/31/09. We were able to secure a spot with MP USA and put a hold on our account until basketball is finished. Hopefully this will give him some more structure and self confidence by doing this.

All three being silly. I have cut Colton and Dalton's mohawks off, but Weston wanted to keep his. I think the things are ugly myself, but that is what he wanted and he looks pretty cute with it. His "hawk" has gotten quite long.
